This Privacy & Innovation Specialist role will be fully dedicated to support data driven initiatives, the achievement of businesses outcomes and contributing to a thriving and respectful data program.
Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together
As a Privacy & Innovation Specialist, supported by the Director of Privacy & Innovation, you will materially influence the ongoing development of TELUS' business innovation. You will work with a cross-functional group focused on enabling the growth of the business along with the development, deployment, and use of new technologies. At the same time, you will be an integral member of the Privacy and Innovation team. This team is tasked with solving some of our organization's most complex challenges while building a thriving community of practice around data ethics and data governance.
You will be a champion for Privacy & Innovation and you will advocate for TELUS' Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all of our decisions around data, recognizing how critical customer and team member trust is to TELUS' mission.
You will ensure that data-driven initiatives meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards. You will collaborate with, advise and guide businesses in addressing privacy and data considerations in a manner that demonstrates TELUS' commitment to putting customers and their privacy first.
•Support the deployment of a data program that meets or exceeds the expectations of our customers while simultaneously ensuring TELUS' ability to respectfully leverage data to deliver value to our stakeholders Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Add value and support business units to deploy or leverage technology ethically by providing expert advice and counsel to execute on TELUS' data handling frameworks
•Educate and advise the business team on new data, privacy, and ethical uses, and provide strategies to address privacy and data governance considerations
•Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure adherence to the TELUS' Trust Model
•Assist in designing and documenting processes that standardize best practices and support an agile development methodology
•Evaluate and report on the performance of the program using established success metrics
•Learn continuously, innovate every day and seek opportunities to develop and demonstrate thought-leadership
•Strong understanding of data analytics, data management principles and familiar with implementing new emerging technologies
•Recognized for familiarity with the emerging challenges of implementing AI in a responsible fashion, and using data in an ethical manner
•Effective in communicating data risks in written form and verbally communicating progress on initiatives in leadership forums
•Recognized for your leadership capabilities to collaborate and accomplish goals with others
•Valued for your knowledge and expertise in applying privacy laws, guidance and best practices, and an understanding of data ethics, operational data governance and data protection
•Demonstrated track record of defining and delivering measurable outcomes for customers and the business in a highly complex stakeholder environment

•Sought out for excellent communication skills, verbal & written, with the ability to present information at all levels of the organization
•Noted for the ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying opportunities to support and enhance respect for privacy
•Highly adaptable, and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment
•5 to 7 years of experience in applying privacy law and principles
•International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification or willingness and ability to become certified within 6 months
•Bilingualism in English & French, verbal and/or written
•Experience working in a large, matrixed organization
