What We are Looking For:

The Staples technology team is seeking a talented Principal Technical Analyst to join our team. The Principal Technical Analyst will have a curiosity around technology, always wanting to try new things and a drive to make our customers lives better. You will join a team that is responsible for technology and in-store infrastructure for the Staples Retail business. Your responsibilities include designing, creating, prototyping and implementing in-store solutions that support store operations and customer experiences.

What You Will Do:

The team is primarily focused on any system that supports store operations and customers including the store network.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of new solutions, day-to-day technical support, proactive monitoring and configuration of infrastructure components, participation in the review and deployment of new and emerging technologies, working with third party support personnel, and adhering to security guidelines and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
    •Design, develop and implement solutions to support operational or customer facing systems•Develop Packaged Applications using Wise Package Studio that are deployed to Retail Store back office systems via a multi-tiered systems management infrastructure (SCCM).•Ensure all development work is directed toward providing stable & secure platforms. •Compose and ensure that documentation, operating instructions, installation procedures and knowledge base information is accurate and up-to-date.•Provides technical guidance to Staples' retail business unit representatives and IT organizations as required•Provide 3rd level problem support and work with third party technical support providers.•Provides technical support for store retail infrastructure components including back office hardware, software, network (wired & wireless), mobile devices and Point of Sale (POS) systems. •Define of the retail infrastructure solution requirements for the implementation of new applications and then develops and deploys those solutions.•Evaluation of new hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure components and make recommendations. •Monitoring infrastructure components to ensure reliable performance, investigates and resolves reported problems, and provides input for capacity & configuration planning. •Integration development of multiple pieces of hardware into kiosks or retail solutions to help drive sales.•Recommend areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed. •Participate in a variety of Global Technology projects.•Support other team members in projects as required.

About You:

    •Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis•Self-motivated independent worker, able to lead initiatives from beginning to end•Good documentation skills•Someone who enjoys exploring ways new technologies could be applied•Knowledge or experience with Windows Mobile and/or Android operating systems.•Working knowledge of PCI and PII information requirements •Experience managing small scale projects •Demonstrated strong communications (both written and oral) and inter-personal skills•Experience working with 3rd party vendors•Coding background is a strong plus (C#, .NET, Visual Basic, Wise, Admin Studio)•Experience evaluating new hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure components.•1-3 years' experience doing integration development of multiple pieces of hardware into kiosks or retail solutions.•Experience with HP Operations Manager or other enterprise monitoring tools•Experience using Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools such as SOTI or VMware Airwatch.•Experience working with non-IT business partners

What You Need to Succeed:

Must Have

    •5 years combined experience working in IT supporting a Retail sales environment with multiple locations and managing Windows desktops, servers and POS systems in large scale distributed Active Directory environments. (Windows 7, 8, Server 2008-2012R2)•3 years' experience working with systems management tools such as Microsoft SCCM, MS SMS, Tivoli, BigFix•3 years scripting experience working with Installer technologies (Wise Package Studio, InstallShield, Windows Installer, Wise Script, Admin Studio).•3 years knowledge of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, and WIFI Networks).•Experience in the following: Windows Command Script, Visual Basic Script, Powershell.


    •Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor of Computer Science preferred) or equivalent work experience
