BMO Digital Investing Marketing

For BMO InvestorLine, the role develops marketing strategy including creation and execution of all marketing elements, development, and execution of research to support strategic marketing development, implementing, and monitoring key metrics to track marketing's contribution to the achievement of business goals and strategies, and monitoring and managing the marketing budget required to execute marketing strategies.

By working collaboratively with line of business partners and across the enterprise, the team is responsible for developing & executing marketing strategies to:
  • Acquire new clients & effectively onboard them driving early engagement.
  • Deepen customer relationships
  • Effectively promote product, service & experience innovations

This leader will also develop the operational marketing plan, including identifying key leadership competencies required and leveraging the expertise and synergies across the Bank to ensure a strategically focused, high-performing, and efficient marketing organization is structured. Acts as a key strategic partner to the senior business leaders in articulating the 3 to 5-year strategic roadmap for differentiation in the marketplace, new product development, and revenue growth, in line with strategic goals.

BMO Global Asset Management Marketing

This role is accountable for the development of short and long-term marketing strategy, developed in partnership with the line of business and leading execution of tactics that will drive measurable results, with specific accountability for growing the assets under management held by clients across various investment products and channels.

This role will develops and maintain a deep understanding of the Global Asset Management line of business and industry category to produce effective and integrated marketing solutions. This includes developing, recommending and executing marketing plans for initiatives that include customer marketing and communications, integrated sales, promotions & incentives, across the objectives of client acquisition, sales growth, and retention. In addition, accountability includes development and execution of marketing plans/strategies that align to strategic objectives and are consistent with brand standards.

They will also manage cross-functional relationships across other business groups to leverage opportunities and services, acting as a liaison between the business/group and internal marketing functions in order to fully leverage capabilities as well as ensure alignment with Enterprise priorities.

Wealth Digital Acquisition

This role acts as a centre of excellence (COE) and partners with other Wealth Marketing teams, Wealth lines of business, Digital Channels and Digital Capabilities teams to effectively manage digital advertising investments to drive customer and balance growth and deliver great customer experiences.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic leadership
  • Leads the development of marketing strategies for the in-scope areas and the implementation of these plans to support achieving the one-to-three-year respective business objectives
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Acts as a key strategic partner to the senior business leaders in articulating 3-year strategic roadmap for differentiation in the marketplace and revenue growth in line with strategic goals.
  • Builds marketing programs to achieve aggressive growth targets across channels, including branch, advisor and digital, aligned to both new customer growth and growth of share of wallet for in-scope areas
  • Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
  • Develops the business case by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Anticipates trends and responds by implementing appropriate changes.
Performance management
  • Delivers on growth and efficiency targets for in scope businesses, channels and products.
  • Defines business requirements for analytics & reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
  • Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues.
  • Monitors progress against milestones, recommends and implements adjustments as necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
Relationship management
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment.
  • Fosters strong internal and external networks and works with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships, which may include regulators.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal/external partners to include vendors and suppliers.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
Marketing operational leadership
  • Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Plans and controls unit operating expenses in accordance with forecasts.
  • Leads the design, implementation and management of core business/group processes.
  • Makes recommendations to leaders on financial management processes based on changing requirements, including budget allocation & impact measurement
  • Leads/oversees the management of vendor relationships and provides guidelines for execution; ensures that all agreements are met as per requirements.
  • Develops and implements short- and long-term plans/strategies, activation plans, schedules, budgets, communications and tactical plans, as required.
  • Oversees/coordinates the development and distribution of marketing solutions per assigned channels/media for campaigns, partnerships and special events/conferences.
  • Influences how teams/groups work together.
  • Recommends measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
People Leadership
  • Leads & manages a team of high-performing marketing professionals
  • Develops talent through ongoing coaching, as well as development and career planning
  • Provides clarity with respect to roles & responsibilities and strategic direction
  • Ensures resources and tools are available for team to be successful
  • Conducts performance management activities including objective setting and performance assessments
  • Removes barriers impeding team and organizational success/progress

Qualifications:
  • +10 years related industry experience, MBA an asset
  • +10 years multi-channel marketing experience
  • +10 years people leadership experience of large diverse teams
  • Ability to leverage a deep understanding of branding, positioning, marketing communications, digital media, MarTech, segmentation, data mining, and consumer insights
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills with ability to communicate effectively with senior management and peers
  • Exceptional ability to drive action and outcomes and deliver with pace. Ability to navigate ambiguity and pivot in response to business priorities.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in leading
  • Exceptional strategic thinker and project leadership skills with demonstrated success in developing and implementing sound marketing strategies with clearly defined goals and objectives.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to assimilate a large amount of information for purposes of identifying value-added observations.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills; ability to drive a "service excellence" culture through an organization and motivate an effective marketing team within a respected and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Possess the ability to integrate into the culture of the organization and work effectively as a business partner with the senior management team
  • Demonstrated experience in evolving strategic positioning to support business needs
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage in unstructured situations with innovative and creative thinking and able to multi task and thrive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong team player - effective in achieving results in a "matrix" environment and proven ability to build effective relationships across a broad cross-section of groups.

Please note the target base salary range for this position ranges from $180,000 to $200,000 CDN.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
