The Managing Director, Enterprise Identity and Access Management is responsible for leading the creation, implementation, and execution of the enterprise strategy, inclusive of access management governance, privileged access management, directory services, and cloud. You will develop sustainable and simplified programs, enhance efficiencies through automation while ensuring compliance with all BMO policies, directives and applicable regulations. The performance of enterprise access governance, reporting and monitoring remediation activities of BMO's most critical applications is a vital component to the success of this role. BMO's Identity and Access Management program is a key first line of defense initiate, the continued enhancement and maturation of this program is another vital component to the success of this role. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate forward looking vision, be a strong influencer across security, technology and business lines and be able to execute that vision. Creation of all metrics and measures including automation and workflow processes, as well as maintaining deep relationships with BMO's businesses and technology operations will be essential to the success of this role. Strong collaboration with and maintaining excellent working relationships with risk and the second line of defence teams will also be integral to the success of this role.


Strategic and Operational Leadership:
  • Is accountable for design and implementation of the BMO Enterprise Identity and Access Management strategy.
  • Participates in enterprise information security governance processes.
  • Promotes implementation of new technology, solutions and methods to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers.
  • Required to support and lead incidents related to logical access, recommend and execute action plans for issue resolution. Lead investigation and report contribution of security threats related to logical access.
  • As a senior leader within security team, contribute to the overall strategic planning and direction of Information Security.
  • Defines and communicates program milestones and optimal resource allocation to the executive team.
  • Develops and reviews budgets for unit and ensures they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Manages unit operational and strategic planning, including capability requirements, planning and organizing the allocation of resources to deliver on unit priorities.

Risk and Compliance:
  • Manage the relationship with technology partners and provide oversight of service implementation and execution.
  • Manage risk through optimal monitoring and control functions, ensuring conformance to all regulations.
  • Within the mandate of this role, promote and support the Bank's risk culture including ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for risk-taking activities, promoting and environment of open communication and effective challenge, and establishing the "tone from the top" through leading by example.

Communication and Awareness:
  • Represent BMOFG on Canada and US financial industry information management and security forums, committees, and task forces to build innovative reaction methods and develop best practices.
  • Collaborate with Canadian and US financial industry organizations, regulatory bodies, and government agencies to create and maintain effective information exchange mechanisms to ensure current and thorough awareness of the complex payments security landscape.
  • Liaise cross-functionally to ensure clear program communication and understanding of policies, processes, and requirements for user access management by all levels of management.
