As Manager, you will be responsible for developing and supporting market leading video and entertainment services. This team is a part of our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team, which is responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS' Optik TV services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home solutions, and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions.

You'll lead and mentor an applications development squad responsible for building and supporting micro-service to support the delivery of all content as part of an end-to-end video and entertainment service delivery chain. Your ultimate goal is to create smooth and extraordinary end-to-end user experiences, so seamless end-to-end service delivery is essential. Guided by your aptitude for cloud-native software development, programming logic and algorithm creation, you'll help your team understand the crucial role analytics and instrumentation plan in supporting a highly-reliable, always-on video entertainment service. With a relentless focus on staying ahead of customer experience and industry trends, you will lead on-going improvements to our devices and services to ensure the best customer experience every time, everywhere. Another key priority in this role will be to proactively collaborate with peers and leaders to identify opportunities to improve our processes and practices in order to better serve our customers. Here's how
•Lead, mentor and inspire a diverse team of DevOps professionals, ensuring that a DevOps and cloud-first mindset is at the forefront of all project work
•Build, maintain and bring to market simple, state-of-the-art video entertainment services in close collaboration with external vendor partners
•Partner with internal stakeholder teams to ensure proper integration with backend systems and processes for customer analytics to delight our customers with a highly-reliable, always-on service
•Develop feature roadmaps and achieve alignment across product teams, cross-functional teams, other product areas, and the executive leadership team Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle with these skills
•A progressive career with at least 5 years of practical experience in delivering best-in-class software based services, TV and entertainment experiences, complex project strategy and execution.
•Experience partnering with product and program management teams
•Never satisfied with the status quo and always seeking and acting on feedback to improve device uptime and service visibility through analytics Must-haves
•Good working knowledge of the following:
•Microservice Architecture, Docker & Container Orchestration
•Software lifecycle tools (Jira, TFS and Confluence)
•Strong business and financial acumen with advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
•Powerful communication and presentation skills, including an ability to summarize complex technical topics for an executive audience
•University graduate with a degree in software engineering, electrical engineering or computer science
•5+ years of people management experience, managing software developers
•5+ years hands on development experience with object-oriented design and implementation (Java, and/or C++)
•5+ years of experience in video technologies and communication protocols
•Minimum three years of experience leading a technical or project team Great-to-haves
•Established track record of hiring and growing high performance development teams.
•Has taken software features from inception to customer delivery
•A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software
•Capital planning and operational expense forecasting experience
•Program or project management (PMP) or Agile experience
