Overview

KPMG Impact team is looking for a Manager, Social Impact & Environmental Sustainability to be a key part of scaling our internal ESG performance across the firm.

Reporting to the Social & Environmental Impact Director and working closely with the Associate Director, you will be part of a national team to drive positive social and environmental change. The Manager will be involved in managing and driving the firm's environmental strategy and programs as well as several key social impact initiatives. This will include assisting the firm in responding to climate risk and helping our firm reach its environmental commitments, in particular the net-zero carbon emission goal by 2030. The Manager will lead the data collection and analytics to help the firm be better informed on our ESG performance and provide relevant recommendations. Moreover, they will engage and mobilize our people on nationally cascaded environmental commitments at the geographic level, and create environmental awareness campaigns to help our people gain a better understanding of the commitments, so that they can be part of the change. The Manager will also provide analytics assistance to the firm's overall community investment performance, as well as support/lead certain social impact programs.

This is a position for a motivated, analytical, detail and client service-oriented team member who brings enthusiasm and discipline to executing our Environmental, Social & Governance strategy. Key responsibilities will include project management and delivery of several initiatives, as well as supporting the communication and administration of key programming. The Manager is also a key point of contact with various internal and external stakeholders and leading logistics throughout the entire lifecycle of a variety of strategic initiatives to achieve high profile strategic objectives. What you will do

  • Play an important role in supporting the development and implementation of national sustainability and impact strategic projects/partnerships and leading the coordination of programming, which may include decarbonization, circularity, climate risk, nature positive, biodiversity, supply chain sustainability, and other social impact engagements.
  • Manage the Green Champions Network, work closely with champions and provide advice on the regional sustainability strategies development, as well as creating sustainability awareness campaigns with the champions to inform our people on various environmental sustainability topics.
  • Lead the development of internal and external reporting (around volunteering, sponsorships, carbon emissions, etc.), including conducting research as appropriate. Manage report preparation through data collection, analysis, and compilation using pivot tables in Excel and/or other data analytics tools.
  • Generate models and forecasts for various environmental sustainability needs to inform the firm's direction and policies on internal carbon price, business travels, business operations, energy and real estate consumptions.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director to support internal and external communications. Responsibilities include acting as the content manager for digital communications, the intranet and external website, managing the editorial calendar of articles to be posted, and conducting initial research to support content development. They will also be responsible for managing the functional mailbox, responding to or escalating queries as appropriate.
  • Have responsibility for the execution of national initiatives, internal recognition and other employee engagement programs and events.
  • Play a vital part in developing efficient internal processes, internal information management systems and supporting users, which includes responding to queries, troubleshooting, and escalating issues. On an ongoing basis, add or reconcile specific data sets in the systems.
  • Coordinate monthly Green Champions and Impact Lead meetings, including manage meeting materials, and action items.

What you bring to the role

  • The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of project management, marketing and/or consulting experience, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Master's or university degree in the sustainability sector (e.g., environmental science, social impact and ESG).
  • Must have proven ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment and must possess a demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced, and dynamic environment, with excellent research capabilities.
  • End-to-end project management experience an asset.
  • Analytical skill-orientation and experience working with large datasets is a strong asset
  • Exposure and good understanding of sustainability issues, standards and metrics (e.g., GRI, GHG Protocol, SBTi, RE100, CDP, WEF IBC metrics).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with senior level executives.
  • Excellent project management/organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate people and projects and to prioritize.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people, both independently and as part of a team is essential. Strong client service orientation a must.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), PowerBI and/or other data analytic tools.
