MANDATE

The Manager, Business Banking Credit Risk Analytics supports the execution of accurate and efficient reporting solutions for risk, regulatory and management information to internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies. She/he further supports an efficient and effective risk management function which uses common information sources and practices, reduces ongoing costs, increases service level performance and minimizes risk.

The role has three primary areas of accountability which are described in more detail below. Across all of these areas, he/she acts as a trusted advisor to Risk and the business, providing specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. This includes engaging key stakeholders on objectives and requirements, building effective analyses & tools to support decisions, and presenting findings in a simple, clear way to drive action. While this role focuses on Business Banking across North America, it may also work on broader enterprise-wide initiatives.

Develop Strategy and Portfolio level monitoring that yield insight
  • Create presentations and self-service tools to allow Senior Executives, Product Partners and other stakeholders to clearly understand the performance of Credit Strategies and the Overall North American Business Banking portfolio.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Highlight insights that drive improvements in business profitability and performance, including identification of emerging issues and trends.
  • Consult with stakeholders to continuously improve consistency and transparency of risk measurement, metrics and reporting
  • Develop a strong understanding of Business Banking Data Architecture and how data flows between systems.
  • Determine the optimal sources of data for timely and effective monitoring. Surface opportunities to further improve the accuracy and timeliness of reports.
  • Assemble presentations that are intuitive, easily-digestible and action-oriented.
  • Ensure strong governance of reporting processes. Participate in any migration projects that will impact the availability and meaning of Business Banking data.
  • Support the maintenance of operational procedures and processes related to analytical and reporting processes.


Forecast Portfolio Performance
  • Lead the development of regular forecasting discussions, particularly around PCL (Provision for Credit Losses).
  • Maintain strong relationships with Collections units to foresee performance trends that may impact forecasts.
  • Represent the rationale for recommendations in front of Senior Executive audiences.
  • Undertake stress testing or other performance analyses to understand the range of potential financial outcomes.


Oversee development of Risk and Capital Models
  • Establish effective working relationships with Canadian and US modeling teams
  • Support Business Banking Credit leaders in overseeing model performance, and understanding shifts in their performance. Petition for new models as performance deteriorates.
  • Collaborate on the development of new models by providing business insights into the selection and use of variables. Ensure datasets used for model development are robust, and that new model implementation is thoroughly tested and reliable.

  • Typically 5-7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management metrics, KPIs and KRIs.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements for risk reporting.
  • In-depot knowledge of risk modeling
  • In depth knowledge of loss forecasting
  • In-depth product knowledge for the designated business/portfolio.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management theory, processes and portfolio management reporting techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of reporting & analytics concepts and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk systems technology.
