Our Audit Quality and Risk Management group (AQ&RM) is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Manager, Audit Quality & Risk Management. The AQ&RM group helps ensure the Firm and its personnel are in compliance with Professional, Regulatory, and KPMG risk management policies and procedures.
The Manager, AQ&RM will primarily focus on activities associated with the planning, execution, evaluation and reporting of results of the Firm's internal Quality Performance Review (QPR) program. QPR is the Firm's primary internal monitoring program for audit and assurance engagements. The focus of the program is the evaluation of engagement quality, issue analysis and action plan development, implementation and monitoring, to drive continuous improvement in audit quality. In addition to QPR, the Manager, AQ&RM will also be involved with other Risk Management and Quality initiatives, including the design, implementation and operation of controls associated with the program and as part of the Firm's System of Quality Management, driven by the requirements of the International Standards on Quality Management (ISQM 1) and the PCAOB Quality Controls 1000 (QC 1000) standards.

What you will do
- Apply the requirements of a global program instructions, professional and regulatory standards in determining the scope and coverage of engagement leaders and engagements to be reviewed as part of the annual QPR program.
- Perform basic reviews of audit and assurance engagement details including those included in financial statements, as part of executing engagement selections based on established risk-based criteria.
- Promote the reliability of inspection results through the application of appropriate data integrity controls in ensuring complete and accurate information is provided to key stakeholders.
- Participate in the development of training for QPR teams and in maintaining up-to-date process information guides and other materials to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.
- Prepare detailed planning and reporting documents with respect to the annual QPR program for local, regional and global leadership teams.
- Research audit methodology and risk management queries as part of providing support to review teams in executing the reviews and apply judgment in initiating appropriate escalation when considered necessary.
- Provide direction and supervision to Senior Analysts within the QPR team and perform first level review of various reports and analysis.
- Develop and maintain robust documentation to support the effective operation of ISQM 1 and QC 1000 controls.
- Provide leadership in developing and maintaining timely and accurate communication with various stakeholders who are key to the QPR process. This includes engagement teams, Business Unit leadership, review teams and quality and risk management leadership teams.
- Perform qualitative analysis of results from the QPR program in determining common themes, causal factors and driving the development of responsive actions for implementation.
- Leverage available technology and artificial intelligence application to drive consistency and efficiency in performing key risk management tasks.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
- CA/CPA designation or equivalent will be an asset.
- Prior experience in a large professional services firm or similar environment, including experience in audit or audit risk management, will be an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a managerial role, with demonstrated responsibility for leading and supervising a team.
- Excellent project management skills.
- High aptitude to learning new systems/technology and in leveraging AI to drive efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills and ability to respond to inquiries with professionalism, attention to detail and ability to generate high quality deliverables.
- Must be very organized and methodical with the ability to analyze and interpret information, in a way that is open, honest, consistent and clear.
- Must possess at least intermediate excel skills (for eg. VLOOKUP, pivot table etc.) and ability to prepare high quality presentations using PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of Power BI and data analytics would be an asset.
- Experience with and ability to maintain confidentiality of data.
- Ability to efficiently process urgent requests and reprioritize as appropriate to ensure key targets are met.
- Proven track record of teambuilding, relationship management, and dealing effectively with Senior Management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
