Department Overview

The Data Communication Services group within Mainframe Delivery is responsible for the Design, Deployment and Support of our secure Mainframe Data communications including TCP/IP, EE and native SNA protocols. The team is also responsible for Certificate management, Firewall, DNS, TCP IP Network routers and ethernet Switches. We also provide consultation services with Architects, Infrastructure Specialists and application developers on system and application design as it relates to the secure connectivity of these systems

Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved primarily in working with all Mainframe Data Communication Performance Management components as it relates to:
  • VTAM, SNA, EE, OSA or TCP/IP, FTP, Telnet services
  • Development and support of standard encryption and associated controls
  • Understanding of 3270 emulation products and macros
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP routing and switching, SNA
  • Knowledge of MVS, JES, TSO/ISPF
  • OSA, Enterprise Extender, SNA Switch, DLSW, router, firewall, certificates
  • Disaster recovery planning
  • Familiar with Change/Problem tools best practices
  • Working with other team members to assist with communication designs or issues
  • Driven to learn and acquire and knowledge of legacy and new data communications


Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:
College / University or equivalent work experience

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years of Mainframe system experience, with most of the following skills:
- Solid knowledge of Computing and Performance Management Concepts
- Solid fundamentals with one or more programming languages
- Solid knowledge of z/OS concepts and facilities
- High proficiency with excel, FTP, Visio, Word
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The successful candidate must be a self-starter, team player, a quick learner and able to collaborate positively with other departments
