This role's primary mandate is to lead and manage internal communications strategy for the Head of Canadian P&BB Distribution. The ideal candidate will bring experience crafting and delivering engaging and innovative communications across multiple media formats (video, written communications, speeches) and is adept at iterative co-creation.

This role will work collaboratively with stakeholders to assess communications needs, recommend communications plans & solutions, secure necessary approvals, and create + deliver communications that effectively support and address communications needs. They will source content and feedback, assesses information and translate thoughts into effective communications. They will produce and deliver high quality communications that target audiences can easily access, understand and action, which are alignment with company standards.
  • Recommends, develops and executes communication plans and solutions based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs, and in alignment with an overarching communication strategy.
  • Leads the communications strategy planning process bringing strategic, professional communications counsel, planning and direction to leaders, based on in-depth understanding of the business.
  • Develops strategies and tools to measure, analyze and report on the effectiveness of communications initiatives.
  • Gathers content from multiple sources and develops communications for various vehicles including leadership messages, intranets, town halls, newsletters, video, presentations and new social media.
  • Proactively collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, development and implementation of communication solutions.
  • Measures and sustains communications solutions impacting the target employee audience. Gathers feedback and continually evaluates the effectiveness of communication content and the vehicles/platforms/tools/technology (e.g. Intranet, Portal, conference calls, e-mail, internal social media such as Viva Engage, etc.).
  • Manages language translation to ensure optimal communications experience for employees in both English and French
  • May network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
  • Remains alert to new trends, tools and methods of communication, and makes recommendations on their application.
  • Stays up to date on company and industry trends by forming and fostering relationships with employees across the company, so as to identify newsworthy items for communication and dissemination.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Manages expenses and external suppliers (as required).
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Writing & editing skills - Expert.
  • Video production & editing skills - Expert
  • Uses a straight-talk and story-telling approach for communications.
  • Ability to take technical and complex information and distill it to key messages that make sense for the audience.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.
  • Able to manage ambiguity.

Salary :

$86,000.00 - $160,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
