Reporting to the Director, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC), the incumbent will support The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre with providing specialised entrepreneurial and innovation support for International students, Newcomers, Immigrants and Refugees, and will focus on inclusion and ensuring that access to appropriate supports is provided to these groups on all campuses. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Creating materials and arranging supports, mentorship and guidance for international students starting a business within the complexities of doing so in Canada
  • Providing access to mentorship and guiding international students through the onboarding process of HBEC
  • Providing workshops, events and activities specifically designed to increase awareness and participation in groups mentioned above
  • Building relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Marketing on-campus (across all campuses) and within the community to ensure active participation
  • Creating marketing strategies, campaigns and content that drive engagement and ensure regional awareness and participation
  • Working with the info-media team to design social media posts and automated marketing campaigns
  • Building out Facebook/Instagram targeted paid ad campaigns
  • Ensuring marketing and branding guidelines are following Georgian standards
  • Working alongside internal stakeholders (ie. Georgian College Student Association) to cross-promote to a wider student audience
  • Working alongside external stakeholders (ie. Local Immigration Partnership Groups) to market to their audiences and members
  • Leveraging existing and current activities and events to ensure add-on marketing takes place (ie. RISE)
  • Analyzing event participation to ensure that marketing efforts have been fruitful and the audience is increasing in diversity
  • Writing success story pieces
  • Supporting the development of a workshop series to address the professional development needed to start and grow a business ensuring these are available for on-line consumption
  • Organizing a Newcomer, Refugee, and Immigrant Entrepreneurship event including all event preparation and recruitment of entrepreneurs from this target population through marketing efforts as outlined above and networking
  • Conducting a full research study across Simcoe County to understand the demographics of these populations by community to determine where further support needs to exist
  • Matching entrepreneurs from this target audience to mentorship offered within HBEC
  • Supporting the creation of international student summer entrepreneurial programming
  • Exploring the opportunity to become an accredited Angel Visa Accelerator and work alongside the Director to explore other funding opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successfully completed a two-year postsecondary diploma in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to Communications, Marketing, Business or other related field
  • A minimum of five years experience working in a marketing or communications role
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to different cultures
  • Strong computer skills and experience using the MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), Adobe Suite (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Social Media
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) including culturally competent communication skills
  • Experience planning and executing events
  • Experience gathering, analyzing data and preparing reports
  • Knowledge of international business is an asset
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
