POSITION TYPE: Faculty - 62.5%, Non-Regular Type 2 (NR2)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The appointment is for one year from September 1st, 2025 to August 31st, 2026. NR2 faculty are entitled to paid vacation leave, professional development leave and benefits.

The NR2 contract includes multiple sections of HEAL 3180 in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs.

HEAL 3180 - Course Description - Health Research for Evidence Informed Practice Students will perform various quantitative and qualitative methods of data analysis so that they can critically examine and incorporate health care research into their practice. Content will include understanding and performing select descriptive and inferential statistics in quantitative research along with text analysis methods in ethnographic, phenomenological, interpretive inquiry and grounded theory qualitative research. Data analysis will be performed using computer assisted methods where possible.

Fall 2025:
HEAL 3180 - TCM Program

Spring 2026:
HEAL 3180 - TCM Program
HEAL 3180 - BSN Program

Summer 2026:
HEAL 3180 - BSN Program

Faculty members are accountable for 10 months of the year. The 10 months accountable time includes such activities as teaching, the counselling of students, curriculum/program development, professional development and participation on a variety of educational committees.

Teaching duties include:
  • Participate in the development and revision of course outlines and curriculum
  • The preparation of courses, including but not limited to course syllabi, online delivery platforms, and other course related activities
  • Responsibility for the delivery of courses, including lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision, simulations, field trips, and in-person, online or hybrid course delivery
  • Student assessment, testing, and placement
  • Student consultations, including office hours (1 hour per week per 3 credit course or equivalent)
  • Work integrated learning placements - Ensure alignment of work integrated learning experiences with the learning outcomes of the concurrent theory and lab courses.
  • Submission of grades in accordance with policy

Service may include:
  • Participation in program, department, faculty, and university committees and events.
  • Participation in program quality assurance activities, including program review and accreditation
  • Participation in regional, national and international committees and other professional organizations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications for teaching HEAL 3180 are for academic preparation:
  • Master's degree, doctorate preferred;
  • experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research,
  • experience in teaching this topic preferred.

*SALARY INFORMATION:

Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.

This competition is for a maximum FTE of 62.5% NR2. When possible, priority will be given to the candidate(s) who can maximize the FTE either individually, or collectively, as such please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage.
