What is the opportunity?
  • The Senior Relationship Manager ("SRM") leads the business development and coordination of client relationships within RBC Capital Markets, acting as the point of contact for RBC's clients adding to the breadth of our relationships and to most effectively map client architecture and stakeholders, opportunities and resource allocation.
  • Coordination, collaboration and problem solving to meet the demands of clients and help them to most effectively navigate RBC.
  • Provides leadership, direction, strategy and management of Institutional client relationships for Canadian Pension and Institutional Real Money accounts by establishing and enhancing senior relationships at our focus clients and developing the SRM team, bench and succession as a player coach.
  • Work as a trusted partner with key internal stakeholders to further product driven relationships across RBC, including stakeholders in CFG, Spread, Macro, DCM, Equities, GIB, Corporate Banking, I&TS and RBC Wealth Management.


What will you do?
  • Maintain our target list of SRM relationships in conjunction with Macro, Spread, CFG and Global Equities and recommend additions, subtractions and changes to targets.
  • Propose and execute a strategy for delivery of RBC products services with an emphasis on our Global Markets offerings into these target accounts
  • Build and maintain senior client relationships within the Canadian client base in order to be able to keep track of industry and client development.
  • Coordinate and drive the cross sell strategy across products and regions; working in partnership with SRM colleagues in US, Europe and APAC to manage cross-border and global relationships.
  • Provide an unbiased gauge of the effectiveness of our salespeople, product offering, pricing and service and to originate new business opportunities
  • Seek regular feedback sessions benchmarking our performance relative to our peers (i.e. counterparty reviews, third party services).
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Provide support in preparation and attendance for C-Suite meetings around events like IMF, Davos, etc.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • University degree
  • In depth knowledge of the applications of derivative and cash products for funding and investing solutions.
  • High level of experience with client needs and objectives in order to provide innovative and effective solutions.
  • Significant experience with debt financial products, depth of understanding across Capital Markets and Banking
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in an efficient and clear manner.
  • Demonstrated relationships at the focus clients across products and levels a key priority
  • Self-motivated, innovative and adaptable
  • Team player and ability to work with & coordinate many people
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Original and creative
