Job Description

CONTRACT or PERMANENT. Based in CANADA or US, with preference for VANCOUVER, BC. Fantastic opportunity for an experienced and well-rounded global mobility professional who wants to work for a complex publicly listed company with operations in 12+ countries. The Advisor will work with existing employees and new hires from the start-to-finish of their relocation. This stable and successful company provides a robust total compensation package including a very competitive vacation program, short-term and long-term incentives, and excellent benefits.

Who- the Company:

Our client is a high profile and reputable global public company. The corporate office is fast-paced, and the company has a corporate culture which emphasizes learning & development, collaboration, teamwork, and high performance. The people at this company are very dedicated to their work and also know how to have fun. This company truly values their employees and provides great perks that promote a healthy work life.

What- the Role:

The new Advisor, Global Mobility will play a critical part in managing and enhancing the organization’s International employee mobility function. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, execution, and administration of cross-border moves, International assignments, and business travel programs. The Advisor will report directly into a great Global Mobility Manager who they can gain valuable knowledge and mentorship from.

Core responsibilities include advising on International tax and immigration considerations, managing relocation services, and ensuring policy compliance. The role also involves maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and coordinating with external service providers, such as tax consultants and immigration advisors.

The successful candidate may be required to occasionally adjust working hours to accommodate global time zones and should expect frequent International travel (only a couple times per year).

This is a great role for someone who wants to get a holistic view of global mobility within a very high-performance and high-touch HR team of a successful and complex company! Swim Recruiting will provide interested and qualified candidates with a detailed job description.

Who- the Candidate:

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of global mobility processes, immigration fundamentals, and International HR coordination. Foundational understanding of tax considerations such as tax equalization and payroll taxable benefit reporting would be great… but it’s not required for a quick and eager learner. Experience working across cultures and time zones, combined with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on deadlines, will be key to success in this role.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in global mobility or international HR, with practical knowledge of relocation, expatriate policy, and International assignment planning.
  • Deep specialization in US global mobility and immigration is highly preferred (relocating new and existing employees to and from the US).
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, International Business, Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with International payroll alignment and business travel compliance.
  • As previously mentioned, understanding of tax equalization principles is very advantageous, but this piece can also be taught.
  • Experience advising on immigration matters and staying current with legislative changes across jurisdictions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across different levels and geographies.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a high attention to detail and a proactive, self-directed approach.
Where:

Vancouver, BC is the preferred home-base for this new employee, as the Advisor can build in-person relationships with colleagues and leaders in the corporate office (hybrid schedule).  The office is in downtown Vancouver, close to rapid transit and many amenities like restaurants and shops. The company is also open to hiring elsewhere in Canada or the US (Texas, Colorado, Washington, California, etc).

How Much:

Competitive hourly consulting rate for contractors.

For permanent employees, there will be a robust base salary commensurate with relevant work experience, qualifications, education, and skills, likely in the range of $95,000 to $120,000.

This company provides an excellent total compensation package including a very generous amount of paid time off, a healthy bonus, great health benefits, and a robust retirement savings plan- please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM.
