Supports all global mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and outsourcings from the pre to post closing stages from a human resources perspective. Provides human resources subject matter expertise and advice. Supports the planning, execution and delivery of the HR governance, information and operational activities for initiatives. Supports the enterprise center of excellence (COE) for acquisitions and divestitures matters for the HR domain and develops programs and strategies (including frameworks, tools, processes and programs) that improve employee productivity, engagement and advocacy in alignment with BMO's overall business strategy. Collaborates with stakeholders across BMO to ensure cohesive, timely, relevant and effective solutions are implemented in alignment with enterprise and business unit specific objectives and priorities.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges.
  • Networks with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices.
  • Recommends measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • May consult to or serve on various committees and task forces.
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Designs, develops and implements multi-year operational strategies including frameworks, tools, processes and programs related to HR A&D.
  • Recommends, designs, implements HR A&D initiative structures aligned with business/group strategy.
  • Acts as the prime contact for internal/external stakeholder relationships, which may include regulators.
  • Defines business requirements for analytics & reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour.
  • Collaborates across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, in order to positively influence or change behaviour.
  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of tools and training required to deliver business results.
  • Develops and manages comprehensive information management systems; designs and/or leads initiatives to improve processes, analysis and reporting.
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of HR solutions for acquisitions & divestitures.
  • Drives the activities of HR stakeholders on assigned acquisitions & divestitures.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Executes various operational activities/requirements throughout the initiative lifecycle e.g. coordination and review of due diligence activities, coordination of change requests, preparing employee data files, onboarding sessions, payroll and benefits set-up, etc.
  • Collaborates with internal & external stakeholders to support planning, implementation and sustainment of an integrated set of HR solutions e.g. acquisition implementation playbooks, cultural assessments, data gathering tools & templates, etc.
  • Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
  • Communicates and reinforces HR Acquisitions & Divestitures frameworks, principles, programs, processes, and standards.
  • May network with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a senior specialist resource across BMO.
  • Influences how teams/groups work together.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
  • Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.
  • Fosters strong internal and external networks and works with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.

    Qualifications:
  • Candidate MUST HAVE a depth in leading M&A transactions (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, and outsourcings)
  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience HR consulting in mergers and acquisitions (diligence and/or integration).
  • Knowledge of HR policies, practices, processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of business and industry practices, change management methodology.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation (Canada, US and/or Global).
  • Project management skills - Expert.

Salary:

$103,500.00 - $192,500.00

The salary range provided reflects BMO Financial group's compensation range for the grade band associated with this position.

Salary placement within the range outlined above is role-based and will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set consistent, and competitive ranges. We regularly evaluate compensation, identify any changes in the market and adjust our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO's comprehensive total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
