Department Overview

Within CPB (Canadian Personal Banking), the AI2 (Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence) team supports the day-to-day activities of the CPB businesses by providing consultative support with data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. We work with business partners to address their analytics needs by providing end-to-end support of data, reporting, analytics, insights, and artificial intelligence solutions. Job Description:

The Data Scientist II, Customer Relationship & Deepening will design, build, and deliver analytics solutions that support customer strategy, engagement, and deepening initiatives across CPB. This role sits within a high-impact pod focused on driving customer growth through deep-dive analysis of customer behavior, engagement, and lifecycle trends to inform strategic decision-making. This role leverages strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business partnership to translate complex customer data into actionable insights, data assets, and scalable analytics solutions that drive measurable growth and customer value.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze customer interaction, transaction, and engagement data to uncover trends, behaviors, and opportunities that inform customer deepening strategies.
  • Analytics Development: Leverage SQL, Python, and cloud-based platforms to develop scalable data assets, models, and analytical solutions.
  • Business Partnership: Collaborate with Customer Relationship, Segment Strategy, and Engagement teams to translate business questions into data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Develop dashboards and reporting solutions (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) to track performance, customer behaviors, and strategic outcomes.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Lead full lifecycle analytics delivery including data exploration, requirements gathering, stakeholder alignment, and presenting insights in business-friendly language.

Job Requirements:
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field
    • Proven experience working with large, complex datasets and delivering business impact
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) and SQL
    • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
    • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure)
  • Analytical & Business Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
    • Ability to translate data insights into clear business recommendations
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaboration:
    • Proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
    • Strong time management and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight timelines

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
  • Experience working with CPB data, customer segmentation, or digital/customer engagement analytics
  • Exposure to machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, propensity modeling, predictive analytics)
  • Experience supporting customer strategy, lifecycle analysis, or campaign optimization
  • Familiarity with experimentation frameworks (A/B testing) and measurement methodologies
