The Customer Systems Engineering Specialist (CSES) - Account is a sales engineering role which requires a mixture of business/sales ability, and technical skills.
The CSES is the primary technical sales support function for the front line sales executives in conceptualizing, qualifying, positioning, and closing complex/integrated technology solutions. The CSES will work with TELUS clients to analyze their business requirements and develop technology solutions to resolve client business issues.
The CSES should demonstrate solution development expertise across multiple telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) technologies such as: Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless, Voice/Data, Internet, Hosting, Unified Communications, and Contact Center in support of a sales pursuit.Here's how
•Work closely with Account Managers to develop and design complex solutions to meet customer requirements
•Respond to request for quotation (RfQ), request for information (RFI), and request for proposal (RFP): Create proposed solutions with application drawings and related technical materials for presentation to prospective customers
•Ensure engineering and technical integrity of TELUS solutions
•Be the architect and translator of complex technical information into compelling and understandable business propositions for the client
•Be the quarterback for working with and knowing when to deploy technical subject matter experts from change management and network engineering during the development of solution proposals
•Communicate complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical clients, in addition to internal TELUS stakeholders
•Remain abreast of new developments in the industry by attending shows, conferences, and engaging in forum discussions
•Analyze TELUS products and services against those offered by the competition
•Understand and communicate the functionality and benefits of specific TELUS products, services, and integrated solutions
•Conduct presentations to both customer and TELUS audiences
•Assume direct technical accountability at the account level depending on coverage required
•Take an active role in the development of the business/account strategic plans with the sales team
•Build customer relationships at the appropriate levels as defined by account strategies
•Be an integral member of the business and technical solution from conception through the detailed phase of sales opportunities
•Take responsibility for TELUS client architecture, network design, and specifications across all TELUS services
•Develop strong working relationships with engineering, marketing, and solutions architects as required to design and customize client solutions
•Revenue generation: Leverage existing relationships and an understanding of our customer's business to proactively engage in thought-leadership sessions to uncover new opportunities
In addition to technical skills, a fully qualified CSES must demonstrate the use of soft skills, e.g. communication, coaching, sales process, etc., that are essential to a front line sales organization.Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•In-depth knowledge of data networking product/solutions, and complex network design including: Routing, Switching, IP networks, virtual private network (VPN), Servers, Security and Hosting
•Internet technologies, architecture, and design
•Traditional telecommunications voice/data technologies: ISDN BRI/PRI, Centrex, TDM DS0/1, Frame Relay, ATM
•Converged technology including: Voice networks and associated premise hardware/VoIP
•IP web technologies, particularly security, firewalls, VPNs, web commerce, web architecture is desirable
•Knowledge about contact center technology and solutions
•IT high level understating in the areas of hosting, server environments, storage solutions, datacenter environment and service desk environment
•Wireless technologies: LTE, GPRS, HSPA, EVDO
•Unified Communications, Audio/Visual CPE and video conferencing industry
•Advanced presentation and communication skills using tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
•Superior ability to use Microsoft (MS) Visio to create detailed network drawings
•Ability to formulate solutions in a complex technology and business environment
•Ability to uncover the key issues from a business perspective associated a technical network solution
•Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills; be seen as a peer and advisor to executive-level clients leading them to embrace TELUS solutions as strategic to their business
•Effective time management and organizational skills
•Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
•Ability to discuss customer solution benefits with financial acumen skills
•Demonstrated competency to develop competitive value-add solutions through creativity and innovation
•Ability to translate and communicate business opportunities into technical requirements
•Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
•5+ years of related work experience in telecommunications, wireless and/or IT industry
•Minimum of 2 years in a pre-sales engineering/customer-facing technical role
•Minimum of 5 years "IT/Telecommunications design" experience dealing with WAN, LAN, Internet/IP, VoIP, and networking hardware
•Previous industry experience in solution development, pre-sales, consulting or customer-facing technical roles
•Demonstrated experience in identifying and understanding customer technical/business needs and translating them into viable integrated solutions
•Experience in one of the following verticals: government, utilities, transportation, insurance or professional services Great-to-haves
•Bilingualism in English & French
•Government level security clearance
•One or more industry recognized certifications, e.g. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) etc
•Sales training/account planning experience
