Role

Assist in the execution of Capital Markets Operational Risk and Resilience's strategy, risk and control management, governance, and regulatory initiatives.

• Project Ownership & Innovation: Analysts are empowered to lead initiatives, propose creative solutions, and contribute to process redesigns-building a strong foundation in project management and change delivery with direct impact across all revenue generating areas in Capital Markets.
• Exposure to Strategic Projects & Stakeholders: Analysts work on cross-functional initiatives, including data reconciliation, quality assurance, and offshore coordination, and regularly interact with a sense of urgency for all internal stakeholders -providing an expanded visibility and strategic experience across all lines of businesses within Capital Markets

Responsibilities

• Planning and executing short and long-term initiatives and ad hoc deliverables within given timelines
• Methodically solving problems across a continuum that ranges from simple day-to-day issues to highly complex business, technical or regulatory issues.
• Build an understanding of end-to-end processes in support of CM operational excellence and resilience. This includes ensuring key processes and controls are identified, inventoried, mapped, and assessed for operational risk and resilience end-to-end across Capital Markets.
• Partner with business stakeholders in GM and support areas (Technology, Operations) to map processes end to end, thinking critically to build and maintain complete flows that capture key processes, controls, systems, and dependencies in existing business activities and growth areas.
• Supports development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders
• Assists with the maintenance, monitoring, measurement & reporting on the status of the operational risk governance program and key risk indicators to internal & external stakeholders
• Writing business communications that clearly and appropriately convey the target message.
• Work cross-functionally to understand business processes and how to better optimize workflows for reporting and analytics
• Prepare project surveys for review: identify pain points, current time spend, estimated time save with future processes
• Review and organize documentation (reporting processes)
• Map out process workflows
• Extract, load, and transform data from multiple sources for reporting and ad-hoc analyses under tight timelines
• Work with various lines of business to develop bank-wide control testing procedures and documentation
• Ongoing self-study about GM, Capital Markets, emerging regulatory and industry issues, BMO business priorities, and best practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

• Proactive in work and responsibility
• Refined critical thinking skills, with an ability to independently recognize problems, propose solutions and execute on them
• Experience in data, data analysis and related infrastructure
• Strong academic record and extracurricular achievement;

Ability to:

• Recognize problems, propose solutions and execute on them; quick learner
• Ensure that key insights are supported by accurate data and research
• Investigate opportunities for increasing efficiency in their regular responsibilities and projects and their value add to the business, including cost/benefit
• See connections between distinct pieces of work and the bigger picture, ability to consider cross impacts

Knowledge

• Understanding of intent and purpose of team
• Intermediate Office Suite proficiency, including Excel and PowerBI
• Basic knowledge of Capital Markets LOBs, products, controls, and infrastructure(e.g., people, systems, relationships x-product/LOB)
• Basic knowledge of the financial services industry

We are looking for candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Master's program (non MBA) with a graduation date of Dec 2026 or April 2027.

Salary :

$45,500.00 - $84,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
