TDAM's Retail Distribution team offers a range of mutual funds and managed portfolios through a national sales and service team of over 100 people. The sales team is responsible for selling TD Mutual Funds & ETFs through external advisors (Brokers and Planners), contributing to TD MF assets of over $145 Billion.

Job Details

The Business Management Specialist is a key role reporting to the AVP, National Office & Sales Effectiveness in TD Asset Management's Retail Distribution team. The Business Management Specialist provides integrated and aggregated support with a focus on supporting overall effectiveness of business process management, business governance and controls, project governance and operational effectiveness. The role requires strong strategic orientation along with outstanding attention to detail with an ownership mindset of administrative functions.

The Business Management Specialist primary responsibilities:

• Plan, lead, develop and manage the integrated implementation of policies, processes, procedures and changes
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of processes and controls with clearly defined owners and roles and responsibilities for each process and control
• Work directly with distribution executives, the National Office team and the sales community to foster sales practices compliance
• Lead and fulfill requests from control partners including action/remediation plans to address risk or governance issues
• Liaise with TD Wealth and TD Enterprise control partners and advocate for reasonable changes
• Collaborate with Retail Distribution stakeholders to obtain in-depth knowledge of the operational risks and identify areas of focus and improvements
• Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements, assess and identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders
• Lead project management assigned activities based on enterprise standards and leveraging the change management best practices
• Participate in the intake of applicable regulation, and lead the impact assessment to the business line and the comprehensive mapping of associated controls to rules and regulations
• Provide expertise and recommendations related to prioritization (including cost/benefit and risk mitigation) of proposed business risk initiatives/changes for the TDAM Retail Distribution business group
• Review end-to-end processes and controls and "connect the dots" across issues and control deficiencies across various channels in order to increase standardization of solutions, processes and controls
• Act as lead for area of specialization with industry, enterprise, and business awareness; recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying issues and opportunities and recommending action to senior management in the governance and control space

Job Requirements

• Develop a deep knowledge of business risk operations, controls and systems, including Sales Practices Policy and Procedure
• Coordinate activities related to business solutioning and target state for business risk related initiatives
• Ensure programs / policies / practices are well managed, meets business needs / priorities, and complies with internal / external requirements
• Exercise discretion in managing communication / correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality
• Conduct analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs, policies, or practices
• Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities across businesses and functions
• Manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
• Protect the interests of the organization - identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
• Maintain a culture of risk management, governance and control, supported by processes in alignment with risk appetite
• Participate as a member of the team, support a positive work environment and ensure timely communication
• Keep current on emerging trends / developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques
• Keep others informed about the status / progress of projects
• Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment
• Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank
Education & Experience

• University education
• 7+ years relevant experience
• Advanced knowledge of the Retail Distribution business functions, current and emerging market trends
• Advanced knowledge of governance, control and risk management strategies & tactics
