Job Description & Summary

PwC's Business Continuity Management (BCM) team helps clients plan and prepare for major disruptions, crisis and IT outages by assisting with assessments and readiness reviews, BCM program implementation, vendor resiliency assessments and facilitating business continuity and crisis management exercises. By taking appropriate steps to planning and preparing for unexpected disruptions to normal business, we help clients respond and recover quickly and effectively minimizing the impact the disruption has on the organization.

In our BCM practice, you will work with people who have a broad range of skills and qualifications - accountants, engineers, scientists, management consultants and industry specialists. You will have the opportunity to work on strategy, advisory, development and assessment of Business Continuity Plans in a broad array of sectors including: retail, consumer products, oil & gas, utilities, financial services, asset management, as well as the public sector. Working with our professionals means you will be working with one of the fastest growing and leading BCM practices in the country.

What you'll create and do

As a Senior Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
  • Managing the end-to-end delivery of client engagements, focussed on risk-based contract management, and driving business development
  • Expanding and developing our BCM practice, including driving business development and client relationship management for existing and prospective clients, and preparing proposal responses for BCM services 
  • Maintaining internal reporting databases for risk management and sales tracking
  • Leading BCM engagements for our clients, including reviewing existing BCM programs (e.g., health checks or audits) that clients have in place and/or developing, implementing and exercising programs
  • Interviewing members of client staff at different levels and making recommendations to improve existing processes and controls
  • Facilitating Business Impact Analysis (BIA) workshops to identify the most critical processes within an organization along with the assets that are required to continue those processes during a period of disruption
  • Supporting clients in identifying risk exposures that could result in significant disruption to their businesses
  • Identifying operational controls and recovery strategies that can be put in place to reduce the impact or the duration of a realized hazard
  • Preparing business continuity and crisis management materials, including strategies, templates, BCMS documents and BCPs, for use by clients as part of their business continuity and crisis management programs
  • Facilitating business continuity and crisis management simulation exercises, including preparation of realistic scenarios and injects that can be used to model the client's response to different scenarios
  • Managing and developing BCM team members, including training and coaching junior resources, and leading team members through our BCM engagements for delivery support
  • Managing engagement economics and project management requirements, including estimating job resources and budget and time requirements, ensuring that all budgets, milestones and other deadlines are met, and scheduling and managing PwC resources and staffing on engagements

  • What you'll bring to this role

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
  • 8+ years experience in a combination of business continuity, crisis management, crisis communications, emergency response and disaster recovery in industry or with a professional services firm
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP)
  • Positive experience leading client BCM engagements
  • Strong ability to independently facilitate workshops with senior client leadership
  • Experience with business development and sales including responding to RFPs and proposal writing, ideally for a professional services firm
  • Practical experience and knowledge of relevant ISO and other industry guidelines and standards
  • Project management experience including job costing, monitoring and reporting
  • Ability to manage risk and project economics
  • Ability to lead and contribute to team success
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting in a business context
  • Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects/clients at once
  • Flexibility to work from home or travel to client sites throughout Canada, US and Latin America/global (approx. 25-30% if needed and when appropriate given current COVID-19 restrictions)
