Job Description & Summary

PwC's Business Continuity Management (BCM) team helps clients plan and prepare for major disruptions, crisis and IT outages by assisting with assessments and readiness reviews, BCM program implementation, vendor resiliency assessments and facilitating business continuity and crisis management exercises. By taking appropriate steps to planning and preparing for unexpected disruptions to normal business, we help clients respond and recover quickly and effectively minimizing the impact the disruption has on the organization.

In our BCM practice, you will work with people who have a broad range of skills and qualifications - accountants, engineers, scientists, management consultants and industry specialists. You will have the opportunity to work on strategy, advisory, development and assessment of Business Continuity Plans in a broad array of sectors including: retail, consumer products, oil & gas, utilities, financial services, asset management, as well as the public sector. Working with our professionals means you will be working with one of the fastest growing and leading BCM practices in the country.

What you'll create and do

As a Senior Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to: 
  • Supporting end-to-end delivery of client engagements and reporting to the BCM Senior Manager, Director and/or Partner.
  • Reviewing existing BCM programs that clients have in place
  • Interviewing members of client staff at different levels and making recommendations to improve existing processes and controls
  • Helping facilitate business impact analysis workshops that identify the most critical processes within an organization
  • Preparing summaries of the information for management to use for setting recovery strategies
  • Identifying through research the risk exposures that could result in significant disruption to a client's business
  • Helping to identify mitigating operational controls that can be put in place to reduce the impact or the duration of a realized hazard
  • Research of companies to help identify risk exposures that could result in significant disruption to their business
  • Helping to facilitate crisis management and business continuity simulation exercises including preparation of realistic scenarios and injects that can be used to model the client's response to different scenarios
  • Preparation of crisis communication strategies and templates for use by clients as part of their crisis management and business continuity plans
  • Supporting program health check assessments or audits
  • Flexibility to work from home or travel to client sites throughout Canada, US and Latin America/global (approx. 25-30% if needed and when appropriate given current COVID-19 restrictions)

  • What you'll bring to this role

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
  • 3+ years of experience in a consulting role around business continuity, crisis management, crisis communications, emergency response and/or disaster recovery
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, Communications preferred
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) preferred 
  • Proven track record of producing high quality work and results
  • Positive experiences with client management and providing support to team members
  • Solid risk management skills and knowledge of leading industry trends
  • Practical experience and knowledge of relevant ISO and other industry guidelines and standards preferred 
  • Confident delivering oral presentations and facilitating workshops to both internal and external clients including senior client leadership
  • Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask; must be organized and able to manage multiple projects/clients at once
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
