Our Business Law Group is growing, and we are seeking an Associate to join our Toronto office. In this role, you will work alongside experienced practitioners advising clients on a broad range of business law matters, including corporate transactions, commercial agreements, corporate reorganizations, and general corporate advisory work. This opportunity offers exposure to a diverse client base and the chance to contribute to a well-established and growing practice.

What you will do
  • Advise clients on legal matters related to their day-to-day business operations
  • Draft and negotiate shareholders' agreements, share and asset purchase agreements, commercial contracts, and other business law documents
  • Conduct and coordinate due diligence activities for transactional matters and corporate reorganizations
  • Research complex legal issues and prepare memoranda and legal opinions on a variety of business law matters
  • Collaborate with legal and non-legal professionals across KPMG to develop integrated client solutions
  • Manage multiple files while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and client service
  • Contribute to client relationship management and business development initiatives
  • Support the continued growth of the Business Law Group and broader KPMG Law practice
What you bring to the role
  • 2-4 years of business law experience gained at a leading law firm
  • J.D. or LL.B. from an accredited law school and must be, or be eligible to become prior to commencement of employment, a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Strong experience advising on business law matters, including corporate transactions, commercial agreements, corporate reorganizations, and general corporate advisory matters
  • Excellent drafting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight timelines
  • Strong client service orientation and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Superior academic credentials, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to the highest ethical standards and integrity

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
