Reporting to the head of the Retail Client Portfolio Management (CPM) team, the Asset Allocation CPM will act as an advocate for TDAM's Asset Allocation team and provide firm-based asset allocation guidance. The CPM provides subject matter expertise on multi-asset portfolios and will augment that with their own proprietary research, working alongside the other CPMs, Product Strategy and TDAM's Asset Allocation team.
This role will have significant client-facing opportunities where you will promote and represent TDAM's multi-asset strategies and model portfolio offerings, providing timely market commentary, investment research, and informed point of views on portfolio design. You will engage with clients across all advice channels servicing TD Wealth Financial Planning, TD Wealth Private Investment Advice, TD Private Investment Counsel and external dealers. Additionally, you will build and sustain dynamic working partnerships with our sales, marketing, product and investment teams. Strong communication skills for frequent external and internal presentations are required, and while you are meant to be focused on model portfolios, you should have an in-depth understanding of total portfolio construction investment theory and portfolio implications, as well as trading implementation strategies. Serve as a key liaison between Portfolio Management, Sales, Sales Enablement and Marketing and Communications to identify opportunities, and support the design of investment solutions for the retail channel.
Represent TDAM's guiding principles, process, performance/attribution and portfolio positioning to internal and external clients.
Represent portfolio management on topics related to financial markets and our investment capabilities by following macroeconomic and sector-specific data/news to synthesize into implications and opportunities connected to multi-asset portfolios. Topics would primarily focus on the practical application of TDAM's Asset Allocation philosophy and process, TDAM's market and economic outlook, portfolio construction, active/passive investment strategies, factor investing and ESG integration.
Analyze complex investment research issues by utilizing both internal and external resources. The topics would primarily focus on portfolio construction and investment advice. Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis and offers opinions and recommendations. Prepare written and statistical analyses as needed for clients and prospects, including the advantages and disadvantages surrounding different portfolio construction options.
Uniquely position and communicate TDAM's competitive characteristics.
Work closely with the Retail Product Management team to collaborate in the proposal of new strategies, structures and products.
Subject matter expert in the creation of communication content to support the marketing and distribution of TDAM's solution set.
Provide update on financial market performance, draft opinion pieces, construct presentation material and write quarterly portfolio commentaries
• The ideal candidate will have a CFA designation plus a relevant undergraduate degree.
• 5+ years' experience in capital markets with an understanding of various investment strategies (fixed income, equity, alternative investments, and derivatives) along with knowledge of portfolio construction concepts and attribution
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex solutions
• Exceptional writing skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Strong knowledge of investment products and competitors
• A strong aptitude for technology and its application in an analytical and portfolio management setting with an ability to assimilate complex and varied market data
