About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned mixed-method UX Lead to join our Data Cognition Team at BMO Capital Markets. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on UX responsibilities, ensuring that our AI-enabled products deliver exceptional user experiences across Investment Banking and Global Markets. You will define the UX vision, lead research and design initiatives, and create clear, user-focused content that aligns with business goals.

The Data Cognition Team (DCT) delivers scalable, sustainable AI-driven solutions for multiple business units. We integrate cutting-edge technology with user-centered design principles to solve complex challenges in financial markets. Our mission is to create products that are powerful, intuitive, and aligned with client needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and communicate UX vision and design strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Plan and conduct end-to-end quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, usability studies, benchmarking, experimental and observational studies, A/B testing, advanced analytics and statistical analysis - t-test, ANOVAs, regression models) to lead research initiatives that inform features, workflows, and overall product direction.
• Synthesize findings into clear, concise insights and recommendations tailored to highly technical business leaders.
• Facilitate design & research workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions.
• Develop research processes and best practices.
• Develop roadmaps for product development in close alignment with stakeholders
• Develop the Human-AI Interaction Strategy, and Measure AI Impacts on User Experience.
• Ensure accessibility and compliance with industry standards. Collaboration is essential for success. The process requires close coordination among Engineers, Product Managers, Full Stack Developers, Data Scientists, and AI Engineers to align with both business objectives and production goals
Qualifications
• Master's degree or higher in Cognitive Sciences, HCI or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in UX research, including leadership and innovation.
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, and experience choosing the right method for the question at hand.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design, AI and human decision-making, usability principles, and accessibility.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with tools like Confluence, Jira, Qualtrics, Methodify, UserInterviews, Fable, PlaybookUX, PowerBI, R (RStudio), SPSS, Camtasia, Clipchamp, Condens.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to Have
• Experience in financial services or fintech is a strong bonus.
• Familiarity with AI-driven interfaces and data visualization.
• Certifications in UX strategy, accessibility, or data analytics/science.
• Proficiency with standard office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
