Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant Analyst III - Finance handles all accounting functions and reconciliations for the Toronto Marketing and Sales Office. An accounting designation is advantageous. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to work in a multifaceted, fast-paced environment. You will contribute to the success of Teck Resources Limited. Your expertise will be key to ensuring detailed financial operations and outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Record revenue in accordance with accounting principles and ensure all transactions align with revenue recognition criteria.
  • Balance Sales into Revenue with mine production, shipping schedules, and inventory; explain variances between actual and budget.
  • Conduct periodical revaluation of sales and purchasing using contract pricing terms and forward prices.
  • Complete month-end tasks, prepare monthly account reconciliations for all balance sheet and income statement accounts, and investigate and resolve any deviations from expectations.
  • Prepare periodical short-term and long-term cash forecasts, explaining cash movement.
  • Prepare consignment continuity schedules to reflect monthly billings and consumption, determine deferrals, and balance inventories to third-party reports.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the timely provision of required sample requests.
  • Coordinate daily accounting activities, including coding and entering vendor invoices, matching invoices to accrued costs, preparing payments to vendors, and daily cash application.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc tasks as assigned to support the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Accounting/Finance or a related field.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel programs; SAP experience is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven time and priority leadership skills.
  • Quick learner who is a self-starter, this position operates in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Environment/Effort: Open-concept style workspace, normal physical effort required.
  • Sensory Attention/Mental Stress: Accounting details require complete concentration; computer usage for most of the day may cause headaches, eyestrain, and RSI.
  • Often required to meet deadlines, accurate work is required; taking care of people of differing viewpoints may cause stress.

Pay Range: CAD $74,000 - $92,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
